365 Tasker advises that you speak to a qualified Insurance broker or agent on your insurance needs.

In Australia, there are three main types of insurance for which you should ensure you have the appropriate level of cover, and check with clients that this meets their expectations - should they required it. There may be jobs where insurance cover may not be required but that is at the clients discretion.

The 3 main types of insurance cover in Australia are:

Professional Indemnity

This is for claims against you for financial injury. For example, the loss of data that resulted in damages to your client or a third party. Professional Indemnity insurance seeks to protect your assets and reputation.

Public Liability

This is for claims against you for physical injury at your premises or at a client's premises.

Workers Compensation

This is to protect you if you get injured on an assignment at a client’s site. Freelancing professionals and contractors have a legislative obligation to ensure they have workers compensation insurance in place where they operate as a Pty Ltd company. The exception is where you operate as a sole trader. The premium is State legislated so each State/Territory changes different amounts.
